  • Structural team catch up meeting, producing drawings and sketches, updating revit model, shadowing collegues, projects on large scale structural projects and buildings, independent software training and courses, independent research

  • Using new software and developing digital skills, Working with project teams has improved my overall communication skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the work that I do and look forward to my block release at University where I can develop my knowledge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the University course is really well organised with clear links between work place and the University. Tripatite review meetings help to track my progress and ensure I am given all the experiences needed to successfully complete my apprentieship

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have been given two work place metors (one for my technician roles and another to focus on my development as an engineer). I also have a buddy at work who is another apprentice to support me and help with any general issues or questions that I have regarding the programme.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I am given access to many online resourses to aid my learning and clear online systems to submit and complete any of the necessary work. I have an online program to track and log my off the job training and ensure I am developing my skills successfuly. This logbook will also count towards my professional acreditation.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The degreee that I am working towards ensure that I have an understanding of the basic theorys and concepts that are applied in the work place. The qualification helps to give a broader understanding of the profession and the different areas of Civil engineering no only the Structural discipline that I focus on at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • All employees at my work place have a social group that they are a part of, These groups hold social events regularly to give you the opportunity to meet others. Sports activities are run across the teams that all are welcome to attend and each year we hold a christmas and summer party

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I've had a really positive experience join Arup and enjoy the work that I do. I feel I have been given alot of support and they are willing to help me to ensure my career progresses.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
  • Make the most of those around you that you work with and learn from the experiences of others. Everyone is alwasy willing to help so don't be afraid to ask questions and be inquisative about not only the work that you do but also the work of the others around you.
