  • I used CAD to create 3D drawings and models for the civil engineering aspect on railway projects

  • I have learnt about different CAD softwares (MicroStation, PowerInroads, ProjectWise) and how and why things are designed the way they are from an engineers perspective

  • I really enjoy the learning side of my apprenticeship and getting to put that into practice in my work

  • My programme is very organised as I know exactly when I am learning and when I am working

  • Arup has a lot of support available and I have used aspects of it to help with my apprenticeship. People are very happy to help and get back to you about any queries relatively quickly

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My university are very supportive and teach me about civil engineering but also develop my professional skills whilst working towards attaining an IEng at the end of my course

  • my training helps me to understand what I am modelling in CAD and why things are designed the way they are so that if there is a problem I can flag it up with my superiors

  • there are lots of available committees to participate in and a lot of social and professional events to go to every week
