  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • on a day to day basis i am taking part in design work for kier in my team i will be given a drawing to edit or complete which can take up to a week to complete with amendments. also i take part in completing health and safety documents this allows us to make sure the people on site are safe at all times.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have gained many new skills and managed to develop existing the ones i have managed to develop are ones such as communication skills this is because on a daily basis i am communicating with different people in and outside the company. I have also learnt brand new skills such as my Cad skills these are developing everyday.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i enjoy my programme very much this is because of the people around me and they make the job very enjoyable because of the working environment, i also enjoy it due to the work which i do this is because you can get very invloved and when you know its complete you get a very good feeling knowing you done it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it is very well organised at times and not so good at other, at work it is very good because everyday i have work to do no matter what this is because of the people i work around, however college is a lot less organised with us having to work of our own back without much help.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i have receoived an unreal amount of support from my employer this is with anything. When i am poorly there is never a problem with my work i can ask any question and they will help me and give me great feedback on the work which i take part in. Also with any question from outside and inside work they are always there to speak to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • at the start i dint receive a lot of support due to the amount of tutors we has, however now the course has gotten better we are aloud to ask any question to them regarding work which allows us to feel comfortable and get the correct amount of help when it comes to help with our college course this can be done any day of the week.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • it helps me massively because i feel that the knowledge i gain from the the course we do allows me to understand more things in the working environment this is in the office mostly however in meetings it helps a lot when i am with more senior people i feel comfortable with having an input from the knowledge which i have gained.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • within work there is not many extra curricular activities however around 3-5 times a year someone will take it upon themselves to go for a social event this is where everyone gets an invite and you will spend the day or night going for food with your work colleagues. The is also CPD vents which allows us to gain extra knowledge from outside our company.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • because as an employer they're very helpful with helping you feel welcome at work and you will always get what you need to feel comfortable at work. also within Kier most of the people are very nice people and you actually make friends within the work place and they make it enjoyable to go to work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kier Group?
  • i would advise you apply early which mean you look keen and if you are invited to any interview or anything involving you and Kier make sure that you are always looking smart and presentable and always ask questions and show that you are keen to learn and make sure you do some research of the company this will then show them that you have done some research about the company.
