  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in an office within the operations team. I manager the defects on the motorways with another employee and make sure these defects are completed within 24hrs. I also keep a track of everybodys annual leave and training qualifications and when required request them for courses.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have become more confident communicating over the phone / emails. I have also learnt how to use excel properly which has benefited me when working on my spreadhseets. E.g adding formuals

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I've only been with the company 6 months and I've enjoyed it so much! I would highly recommand working for Kier as they have been very supported. Walsall college have been great too, I attend college once a month and have a great tutor.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the beginning college wasnt the best, I started work in the August and didnt start college until the end of September and in november I was finally up and running on their system. However, now I have a great tutor and I'm attending college once a month.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I'm very supported at my work, my manager puts me forward for a lot of things and takes me to diferent depots and out on the network to help with my development. I'm never scared to ask for help when needed everyone is so helpful and caring.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My college tutor is very good and I have created a good relationship with her. I'm never afraid to email for help and she gives me good feedback to reflect on

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe my qualification will benefit my job role as I will be able to understand the business side of things. I may also do my L4 business qualification to further my development.

  • Not that I'm aware of.

  • Yes

  • Lots of potential to progress, good pay, lots of support, interesting sector.
