I am a production manager assistant for Blue Peter for the year, thought every placement is different, I help with the preparation for the film team prior to shoots and one of the points of contact for the production. I log paperwork for the show, report website content, call sheets, book hotels and transport, make production packs for film team and other jobs around the department. I also volunteer with studio running and assistance where needed.

Absolutely love it, where else would I be able to bring home a snowman made from sprouts? It is a warm and welcoming environment, everyone in my team are amazing and there to help when I am confused or struggling with a task. Every day is different. Some days are quiet though know that it will be busier when films are being made.
Feel as though it is still in the midst of being fully structured. 7 weeks of college are spread out through the year, 80% we are on placement working and take a week every few months out to travel to college for a week.
When I need advice or encouragement they are an email away for help. My scheme managers and line manager are very supportive and allow me to be free with things I may wish to do.
Training providers are lovely and very welcoming, giving us the units and practice we need for being in TV.
I feel as though it should be more advance, though I develop better as a person in a working environment learning on the job I gain more knowledge there than in college. It is a nice refresher to understand media and how to use advanced cameras.
There are training courses provided by the BBC Academy for all staff to join. I attend stepping out sessions where I visit schools and speak to children about the content they watch.

It is a great start to anyone's TV career. The work benefits are great and everyone who works there are lovely and friendly. The apprenticeship allows you to reach out to other departments and spread around. Grateful to work here!
They look for potential in applicants, it's not about having a TV and film qualification but if you have the potential to grow in the BBC Talk about what YOU have done, not what your team has done in a scenario question Any experience (outside of TV) is good experience
