  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to run a shift. I oversee any decisions made by team members, deal with any complaints from customers or staff, help keep the staff organised, informed and motivated. I also deal with the cash at the end of the shift and entering any details onto the system as well as confirming hours worked by staff etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills during my time as a bar supervisor, i have learnt more customer service skills and problem solving. I can also solve problems under pressure and deal with problems amongst staff and amongst customers. I have learnt how to do a till and safe count and how to use the programmes that the businesses uses.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot as it helps me to recognise the skills i have learnt and enhance my knowledge of my role to help better my performance. It also helps me to understand why we do things and why they are important. It also teaches me about things i may not have come across yet in my career.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I find my programme to be well organised and structured, as well as being flexible and accommodating. I find it easy to find time to complete any work set and to find any help i may need with completing it. The system is user friendly and easy to follow and all of the information is easy to access.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employee offers a good amount of support and helps to remind the staff of when we have sessions booked with a representative. They will offer any help if you are struggling and give you words of encouragement if you feel a bit stuck with any work and tasks that have been set.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider when working toward the qualification. They are flexible with visits and ask if you need any additional visits and offer you the chance to ask any questions or let them know if you're struggling with anything and they will help you understand and feel confident.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification helps me perform better in my role as it helps to widen my knowledge of what my role entails and what is expected of me, as well as helping me to understand the best way to carry out tasks and deal with any issues that may arise in a shift.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are some sports team within the company but not within out site, there is also a singing competition that happens yearly that staff can judge and pick a winner and can follow their contestant to the final which is usually held in another location, last year it was in Leicester.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It has many levels of work and many opportunities to progress within the company. There is a great sense of team within the site that i work in and everyone works together and helps each other. It is easy to speak with any managements staff about any issues or even about ways to progress in the business.

  • Just to be yourself and work hard towards any goals you have,There is a great sense of team within the site that i work in and everyone works together and helps each other. It is easy to speak with any managements staff about any issues or even about ways to progress in the business.
