I am an apprentice on the design team in a creative production office. I will get briefed with a project and I well then spend the next couple of days/weeks working on the project. I use softwares such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and ore to complete my tasks.
I have definitely developed communication skills and improved on my confidence because I am around people all day everyday. I have learnt how to use Adobe softwares such as InDesign and Illustrator. Also, I have been on a 1 day Premiere Pro course with my team and learnt the basics of this software.
I very much enjoy my programme, I think its a great way to get to know the industry and learn so much. There are so many opportunity's for me to take and I have met so many people in the industry who do completely different things. Its a great way of getting contacts, achieving goals and meeting new people.
Everyone on the programme spent the first 3 weeks together with our training provider, this gave us a chance to meet each other and get to know how the programme will be structured. We were given our dates we will spend with the training providers and were talked through our unit work.
We have many support systems on the scheme such as our employer, our scheme manager and we then also have a mentor we can go to for advice about the industry, work and general problems. I have a catch up with my manager every week to keep on track with things and to have a general chat about work and general things.
Before we return to the training provider for our bock learning they will come out two assess us in the workplace and keep track of where we are with work, our unit work and how we are in general. When we are with Sgil Cymru we get to sit down with our assesor and go through our work.
Whilst completing the work that goes towards the qualification it gives me a chance to research my job role and learn thing about it. The work has helped with my role but also about stuff we can do after we finish the apprenticeship and about the company we work for.
I have been apart of Careers Wales events and had a chance to speak people interested in the apprenticeship. The office have organises nights out after work to chat and get to know each-other better. Also being with the training provider we have met other apprentices that work for other companies.

Its a great place to work, so much positive energy and you are surrounded by people who want to be in the same industry as you. There are so many opportunity's here for everyone and there are so many people who can help and a lot of support systems.
You got to want to work in the industry, be enthusiastic and show pieces of work you have done or helped work on. Be open minded and be prepared to learn so much, it's an advantage to have more than one skill in the industry so take part in anything you can.
