  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my role I work with handling motor insurance claims. This includes multiple things. I mostly handle customer calls where I am setting expectations for claims, complaints handling and helping with any queries for hire or repairs. Liability investigations with third party insurers including gathering evidence and liability decisions and outlay recovery.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a many new skills through the apprenticeship. I have gained a knowledge of the insurance sector as a whole and not just the parts that are applicable to my job role. I have established more skills in complaint handling and also improved on my customer service skills overall

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I found the programme to very enjoyable as it given me a chance to improve myself much more than if I was just in my normal job role. I thoroughly enjoy learning and the information provided in the programme was very detailed helping me to have a better understanding of my role and making the job easier.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very well organised. There were allocated learning times for us to use which in turn made the learning experience much less stressful and easier to take in. there were plenty of meetings where the details were spoken about in more detail as a group and with the assistance of the training provider.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive quite a lot of support from our employer as they plan us in for the learning and helped with any questions we may have had about the course or programme itself. Mangers were very helpful throughout the entire experience and all people involved were patient and understanding of the work load involved.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider had many levels of support for working towards the qualifications. There were the meetings with the training provider both one to one and groups which gave us a chance to go over the material and ask any questions necessary. they had easy methods of contact for throughout the process if a meeting was not planned making much quicker and easier to get assistance.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I fell that this qualification helps me perform better in my role as it has given me a much more in depth overview of my role and other roles within the industry. This made stepping into my role less intimidating and has given me a way to further myself within my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many different extra-curricular activities available from my work place there are multiple work events such as networking events and team nights. There are many events throughout the year for the holidays and also internal events such as the board game nights and football games which are available for all to participate

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I fell it is a great workplace with many great benefits and well paid. It is full of great people who are friendly and love to get everyone involved. it gives you the chance to build a career and better yourself so that you can take the steps you need.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • I don't really have any advise or tips for someone who is applying for direct line as the whole process was very simple and everyone involved was helpful and friendly. The only thing I can say is to bring your whole self to work and take your time to understand your role.
