  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily role is to handle customer queries on calls including hire car issues, repair updates/problems, carry out investigations into the liability of claims keeping them up to date and keeping customers informed of any updates. When I am not answering calls I will review cases and bring them up to date.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a few new skills. I have gained a qualification from the apprenticeship which has improved my CV. I have also learned to use multiple new systems these include the portal system, Claim centre nine and CMS. I have also gained many skills in customer communication which have help me handle my role more efficiently.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the programme. It has been an interesting learning experience for me and has helped me to grow. Everyone involved in the programme has also been very friendly and helpful creating an much more stress free environment for learning. It has helped me reach new things and have a good time doing so.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was structured well. the time was allocated for study with variation which kept it from being mundane. The meeting with coaches were well scheduled to allow time for everything to be done and the mix of on phone time and off phone time was very helpful to progress properly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer provides a lot of support. My individual needs are taken into consideration at all times and any changes are discussed thoroughly. Any extra time required or issues can be discussed easily without any fear of it causing problems. They are very understanding and do their best to support me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is a good level of support from the training provider. They are easily contacted via email for any queries or issues you have. The face to face interaction more limited but is used well to go over anything you may have questions about that may be difficult to explain in an email.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that this has assisted in improving my performance as it has given me a much deeper knowledge of the industry and a huge amount of information that I can transfer to my day to day role. This has made it easier for me to make quick and informed decisions for the best outcome.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of extra-curricular activities that take place within my work place. There are events for all the holiday periods Easter Halloween etc , plenty of events arranged throughout the year like board game nights and scavenger hunts. There are also the team nights out and the company Christmas night out.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I find direct line a fun and easy work environment. The staff are all friendly and look out for each other and there is a lot of support to keep it a stress free area. The work is rewarding and often very interesting. Overall I enjoy working for direct line.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • the only tips that I have for applying to direct line would be to relax as the interview is not as scary as you'd expect, make sure that you look into the principles that it is run by and bring all of yourself to the interview it will be beneficial.
