  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • It involves financial reporting for a variety of markets based in Europe as well as some markets based in Africa and the Middle East. In addition, we help in the Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting functions for the company when we create, prepare and submit the templates for each of the supporting markets.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • There are a variety of different skills which have been learnt on the job and some of them include an attention for detail which is paramount when working in the finance function of the business. In addition, communication is also key when working across countries which speak a variety of languages.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the role as there are a variety of skills and experiences which I have been able to build on whilst also meeting many different people, helping me better understand different cultures and approaches. Also the problem solving aspect is fun as this is something I also enjoy outside of work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very structured and organised as BPP provide the required support, and with Pfizer being supportive of the programme and it's demands creates a very healthy tandem for me to be able to understand clearly what is required of me in the apprenticeship as well as my role in the business.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support from the employer is paramount and Pfizer has played a key role in the support, always being flexible to the demands of both the role and the education side of the role, making sure that I am able to do a hybrid of both. Also keeping a track of what I'm doing as well just out of interest.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They provide the support at the point of contact, not communicating too much outright, but uploading and providing all the necessary material both online as well as sending physical materials such as books and practice test packs. This caters well to me as I like to do physical work on apiece of paper or in a book.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It gives me a broader understanding of the larger economic and business landscape, whilst keeping up to date with the new techniques and understandings of the Finance function. All this information then is translated into the work that is done in the workplace, seeing real life examples of what has been seen in a theoretical context.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are a variety of activities that I have partaken in since I have joined including things like team building activities where we did a whole variety of activities, team dinners, social events such as ping pong and also getting to meet some of the senior staff from headquarters abroad.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Pfizer to a friend because they have a very healthy work life balance making sure that you do not get overworked, whilst also organising a variety of activities to network and get to know people within your team better. In addition, they are very supportive of ideas that you have.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer?
  • Just be yourself making sure that you get your true personality across to the company, as they are very accepting and understanding when it comes to their employees. In addition, don't be shy in showcasing your skills in the right way as they will notice your strengths and will look to help diminish your weaknesses.
