  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role in HR involves generating contracts for new hires, supporting with the restructuring process by paying invoices and issuing at risk letters as well as providing companies with references for ex employees or those that need tenancy references. Furthermore, I also help with filing and supporting my team members with whatever projects they are currently working on.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to manage my time better as well as how to prioritize my work more efficiently as I do university work along side a full time job! Furthermore, I have also learnt to be confident in myself and I have learnt from Pfizer that I am valued by the company and my opinion does matter, even when in other job roles it may not have matter so much.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am on! At times it can be stressful and difficult but this is the best time at which I think I learn. Furthermore, I also find being in a larger company, that I am exposed to much more and able to use these experiences to learn and grow into a true HR professional

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship is really well structured! I have my lectures at the same time every week and I also have allocated time off to work on my university assignments as well as being in work to learn on the job as it were! Sometimes the workload can be stressful as it is difficult to have a to-do list in HR as new things fly in everyday but it enables me to structure myself differently to how others would who are not used to that kind of environment

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is so supportive and I cannot fault them! I am able to speak my mind and express if I am struggling with the work load or equally ask for more work in order to help the team out a little more. They are not only supportive with work issues but also offer to help out with issues outside of work too which is really reassuring.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive some support from my training provider in that I have lectures every week as well as scheduled meetings every now and then to see how I am getting on. I also know the support is there if I ever need to reach out and ask for it. However, I have never reached out for support so I am unable to comment on how well their support and advice is.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am able to relate the content from my university work very much to my workplace and feel that it is very beneficial to have my university work along side a normal job as it allows me to see the task in action as well as being able to put the theory with the practical.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there is lots available here. For example, there is a run club or walking club as well as a gym and many other things you can get involved in. Pfizer also hold events where the country manager speaks to the crowd of employees within Pfizer about what we are aiming for next and what we have achieved so far.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The environment in Pfizer is brilliant, I cannot fault the people and the working environment! It is a wonderful place to work, we are always kept in the loop with what is going on in the company and there is lots to do here that is beneficial to employees. I have only been here 6 months and I feel very involved. I felt like part of the team within two weeks of being here!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer?
  • Be yourself! Pfizer loves everyone to be unique and bring their own ideas to the table that are different. The environment is relaxed and unlike anywhere else I have worked previously. There is lots to get involved in even outside of your department where you can learn about what other departments are getting involved in or even what Pfizer as a whole is aiming for within the next few years
