  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Incentives & Reward team advise a wide variety of clients across a range of different sectors and geographies on world-class reward programmes in a cost-effective, tax efficient and compliant manner for employers, employees and trustees. I focus on the restructuring of share-based incentive plans for key stakeholders of a company or private equity fund, as well as analysing the tax treatment for HNW individuals for their international pension plans. As well as advising board members and senior executives in the UK, I also helped our global clients manage their risk and controls in this complex area or help address an array of tax and regulatory matters at various stages of a company's lifecycle, including mergers, acquisitions, due diligences and general restructuring. The main competencies in my team are: M&A, Pensions, Share Scheme and Private Equity Funds. See less

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot throughout my time at Deloitte - ranging from how to talk to clients, how to behave in a professional business environment and how to be efficient in how I work. I have learnt how to prepare good, clean documents for clients and how to produce quality materials for my clients.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really do enjoy my programme because staff at Deloitte ensure to involve Analysts as soon as they join the Firm. Yes the work is hard and demanding, but when you take a step back - I do enjoy the work I do! I have really enjoyed my first 2 years at Deloitte.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Unfortunately the programme was not structured very well. It could have been executed better, but as we were the first year to undergo such a programme, it was difficult for Deloitte and the staff to adjust to this. Nonetheless, we all got there in the end, but communication could have been better.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My local team have supported me a lot throughout this programme and are willing to support me in my whole development as an Analyst / apprentice. They are happy to help me when I go out for my studies and are very supportive when needed. However, HR could have been better organised.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a lot of support from my training provider, and this is because Deloitte really push for their employees to receive the best type of support throughout their studies. My employer values the time I have to spend when out at college and they also help me if I have any issues with my exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It does and it doesn't. My team is quite a specialised team where professional qualifications don't really help, but it's great to have that background knowledge and the ATT / ACA / CTA exams certainly provide this. I believe the qualifications is a good way to start the career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Deloitte throughout the year host many social events / extra-curricular activities for their staff and external individuals / organisations. The programme starts of with the Tax Analyst Academy which was a 3 week intense course which was great for professional networking and meeting your peers in an informal environment. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Deloitte is a great employer to work for. It's a very agile Firm and the staff at Deloitte are always willing to help one another. My first few months at Deloitte have been great and I have received a lot of support from everyone within the Firm. I would definitely recommend.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Don't come to Deloitte if you have a narrow mindset. You should be broad when applying to Deloitte and you should keep that broad mindset for as long as you can. Be confident and always ask questions - no one will shut you down for a silly question. You should also question what your potential job is.
