  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We have set times for college and study and our day to day work is flexible enough that we can easily manage our commitments alongside it. We have regular meetings with a variety of people who manage our growth in a variety of ways, we also have other meetings with peers who support each other when we are struggling with work or study pressures.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive regular support from my employer in the form of both a buddy, coach and people leader who regularly check in on me as well as support from the wider team. It is a harsh learning curve and as such initially it can be difficult to get over the change in pace and work as such the support I received was and is still key.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have an allowance of study days for each of the accounting exams I am completing, as well as scheduled and organised college time for every advanced or professional level exam I will be sitting. As such I receive regular and efficient support from central teams who streamline our learning experience across the country. We also have in house colleagues who are designated to assist us with our learning goals and deadlines.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My learning helps facilitate what I do on a day to day and vice versa. I believe they are a synergetic experience which helps me learn the absolute maximum from both. The only issue that I do find is that the learning does not necessarily follow what I am currently working on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are regular extra-curricular experiences to have with Deloitte. There is also a well accepted principle of if you would like to have extra socials and experiences at Deloitte that you are more than welcome to seek to create such extra curricular events yourself. You are also part of a regular distribution network which encourages the attendance of professional working events.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great working environment where there is a clear progression path to which you can learn and develop. The people are warm and welcoming and there is a genuine team feel. In the accountancy sector you will never learn quite such a depth and breadth of clients in such a short time as when you are at Deloitte

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Don't try and fit a mold and anticipate what they want you to be, ensure you come across in every question you answer and don't assume that there is 1 type of person. There are a multitude of personalities and workers in Deloitte. Most importantly don't underestimate the importance of being a person when you answer questions during your interview, at the end of the day you may get interviewed by a partner but they are just a person at the end of the day and talking to them as such will go a long way.
