1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

9/10

On a daily basis, you will work with a variety of clients to audit a number of account balances within their financial statements. This allows daily interactions with both client team members and internal team members - with this varying throughout the year as you get to work on a number of different engagements. From initially joining the firm, you are given a number of responsibilities, with this increasing as you continue to work at the firm.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

9/10

On completion of this apprenticeship, you are able to obtain the ACA qualification whilst also attending a number of internal training courses every year. These internal training courses build on both personal and professional skills, with this also providing an opportunity to build relationships with colleagues who you don't work with on a daily basis.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

8/10

Due to being booked to a variety of engagements throughout the year, this provides an opportunity to work within different teams, as well as experience different industries and client businesses. This regular variety keeps the programme interesting, as you get to experience a wide range of businesses and not go to the same place everyday. As you join the company with a large number of other young professionals, the company culture is strong with everyone experiencing the same highs and lows of the programme - allowing you to all help each other when necessary.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

9/10

On joining the firm, induction training is provided at an external location - with this giving an introduction to not only the programme but also the firm, as well as providing an opportunity to meet other people who are on the programme. This induction training is supported by regular training sessions to further improve your skills and knowledge. Due to working with a variety of teams, there will always be a team member more senior than you who you can turn to on engagements, to ask immediate questions and therefore always providing consistent support. As you also work towards gaining your qualifications, there are set weeks where you will attend college to allow study time ahead of exams.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

9/10

During the course of work engagements - everyone is assigned a coach who is an senior team member who is there as a point of call for any issues that arise, in terms of both work and personal related issues. This person can act as a mentor throughout your programme. As well as having this individual assigned, there is a designated HR team who you can also raise any issues with where needed. Both of these options allow an easy access support work to be utilised as needs be.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

9/10

For each individual exam that you take, you will be taught by a tutor at college - with all tutors providing their email address to allow you to contact them as you continue to work towards sitting your exam and may have questions arising after the tuition course has been complete. Each office also has a designated exam manager who you can contact if you have any issues or require any guidance in terms of exam related issues. Therefore, the firm and college are extremely supportive of you whilst completing the programme.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

9/10

On obtaining the ACA qualification, this qualification directly relates to the daily job that you complete, with this improving technical knowledge that you can apply to on a daily basis. As you continue to work your way through the qualification, the technical knowledge that you obtain improves - with this being beneficial as you start to be assigned more complex account balances during your work engagements.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

8/10

As you join a team within the firm, there are regular social events and meetings within these teams to allow the whole team to get together. Furthermore, there are annual office wide social events. As the firm engages with the local community, there are volunteering activities - as well as charity events that you can participate in too. Across the business, there are also sports teams that you can join and engage with outside of work.

9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

As you work on a number of engagements, this job provides such a variety in many ways - working on different client engagements, working on different tasks everyday, as well as working with different team members. This variety improves my interest in the job and allows skills to develop quickly. Deloitte provides opportunities to develop not only your technical skills but also personal skills by giving responsibilities and opportunities to develop consistently.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?

Ahead of completing the application and attending the interviews and assessment centres, I would recommend that you research the firm and industry to ensure that you are able to apply real life situations to the interview and application. The key advice when applying to Deloitte is to just be yourself.
