Customer Service Engineer Review

I go out and fix medical equipment when out in the field, varying from x-ray to MRI, but also commute to college to learn practical skills in machining, maintenance and electrical based, as well as theory day to help work towards my level 3 btec in engineering for my apprenticeship.

I have learnt plenty of new skills and refined old existing skills. Some of the key new skills I have learnt are predominantly based in electrical equipment, to do with the installations and maintenance of equipment but also different types of enclosures that can be used for a electrical system.

I thoroughly enjoy this current programme as I am learning a variety of new and different skills for the industry I am interested in going into, the support from work is extremely good. Not only this but it is also an opportunity to meet new people and learn from them.

It is very well organized programme by my employer and is laid out in such a manner that allows constant learning and progression in and out of the field, however when initially joining the college they were a little unorganized and caused a slow start to the programme but got much better as the first term went on.

I receive plenty of support from my employer, offering a variety of online training and guidance when needed, but also contacts to current and old apprentices at different levels of progression in there programme allowing for plenty of help and people to ask questions to about college or other aspects.

They offer different levels of support depending on person to person, however in general they are very effective on providing support and feedback to help work towards the required qualifications for my job role, and offering advice when I have questions or need further guidance with certain tasks I'm doing.

My qualifications help me perform better in my role, as they allow me to understand the basic principles behind engineering, and allow me to apply them to my job role working out on the field. But also practically apply them and develop them when on-site working in different environments with the customers.

Not that I am aware, however there are team forums and socials twice a year allowing you to discuss important matters but also develop as a team so you area able to work much more efficiently allowing for better overall performance. It is not widely advertised though extra-curricular activities at work.
