  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • Firstly the journey there was about 40 minutes for me so it was easy to get to and back. On the first day we went through the health and safety procedures and was introduced to the staff supervising us. The overall experience was informative. The people there made a real impact and stressed how important people were in a business. Over the course of a few days we took part in a real life situation and we had to provide some advice for a company. We also took part in workshops related to the job roles available at Deloitte. A con would be the fact that we didn't actually get a tour of the office so we were sat in one room for the entirety

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I learned how to give specialist consulting advice to a business but my knowledge is not perfect as i would need training. I also learned to have patience and i improved my team working skills so that i could network with people easily. I also increased my confidence in the leadership role and presentation skills which is vital for work. In other words i am somewhat work ready.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • The things i really enjoyed were the diversity of people i met and the skill sets they possessed. I met like minded people and not so like minded people. The whole experience was very professional and we were offered food during the day. I didn't enjoy sitting in the same room as i thought that we would have somewhat of a tour as there were many facility.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • It was very organised and i did not feel shortchanged at all. The day was clearly set out and the time management was exceptional. Maybe one or two hiccups but it was flawless. The people who came in to talk to us were nuanced and clear so it was easy for them to pass information along.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • The whole culture of Deloitte is cooperative. They put emphasis on the people and their mindset. They succeed in trying to make people fit in, almost like a family experience. They acknowledged that people are motivated by many things. Pay,purpose are two examples. "Respect and inclusion is at the heart of our talent strategy" Integrity and ethical behaviour are central to maintaining their reputation and are absolutely critical to the success of the firm.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • At the time i felt unsure about what career path i wanted to choose but over the few days i suddenly resonated with things i never considered. I realised that i wanted to be a manager but i would like to start in the Human resources department as i love to work with people and by myself.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed for my travel costs. I was not paid at all but the experience was golden. Meals were provided and the location was desirable. It was near a station that could quickly take me home and a few restaurants. I felt like an asset rather than a cost to the business.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were opportunity's for networking and meting other employees. We met workers that recently joined after college and they spoke about the culture and working conditions. They gave us information that we could use to make an informed decision. They felt happy to be there and that was what is was looking for, their posture.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Deloitte connects people throughout the world and gives advisory to many businesses. I feel like if there was something for me then there is something for everyone. Deloitte is a higher apprenticeship that offers a degree so the culture, pay and skills is worth it. "Respect and inclusion is at the heart of our talent strategy"

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • I would say do not be overly concerned about grades as Deloitte may offer places to people who fall short by a breadcrumb. The process is quite draining so you need to have resilience when applying. Furthermore, you will need to be confident as you will be put in many interviews. There will be paperwork so you need to be somewhat academic.
