  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role was interacting with the workshops that Deloitte kindly provided me to understand the different roles in the company. This included areas such as tax and consultancy. The staff were lovely and the day was well-structured with enough time for breaks and interactions with the staff in the company.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have certainly gained more knowledge of business and improved confidence in my presentation skills. This developed more strongly as the week progressed with more tasks showcasing the findings as a team. I also developed my problem solving skills where teams had many problems to solve throughout the day. Improving communication skills with simple body language changes such as eye contact and facial expressions were also good to remember.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Initially, I was slightly sceptical with the Aspire programme as I wasn’t completely sure what Deloitte was about. But being as a group and becoming familiar with people, I began enjoying the workshops even more especially the consulting and digital section, but the tax and auditing were rather interesting too.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very well structured and staff ensured to help if there were any queries. There was always a plan of the day in the beginning and timing was rather accurate and times for breaks and lunch were nicely placed. Each day was packed with many activities and jobs to do ensuring there was always something to do.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • From Deloitte, lots of support for understanding about what the Big 4 is really about and how businesses are divided to their sections. It was also nice of them to help us in matching our personalities and interests to certain sections of the company such as being a people person, or having a passion for problem solving or maths.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In terms of qualifications, I cannot place much input as it was more of an insight week with workshops to understand business companies. However, if I were to work in Deloitte in need of qualifications for certain roles, I would likely be assured that I would receive a great deal of support for learning new skills or taking courses to become suitably qualified.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • From the experience week, I feel I have a better view of my skill level and confidence in my skills. I feel as though I am a more confident speaker by forcing myself to present in the workshops. If I were to go into consultancy, I feel as though I am more prepared and understanding of building connections with clients.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • From the experience week, there are many opportunities to learn and grow with Deloitte with opportunities to connect with other businesses and even volunteer every year to make a difference to the community. Building connections with others is important at Deloitte, so valuing individual interests ia surely supplied within the company.

The company expresses efforts as a whole like all the cells in the body working together.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
