  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day my role varies. Typically I spend most of the year working with clients on projects, daily I'll be working closely with my clients to understand and meet their requirements, supporting them in workshops with stakeholders, developing materials and providing guidance on how to go about certain tasks. If I'm between projects, I'll typically support bids, perhaps going to briefings or writing answers for proposals.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My confidence as grown massively since joining the firm and my communication and presentation skills have grown as part of this. Time keeping and prioritisation of work is essential to my role and this is something I've worked on since joining the firm. I've grown a number of technical skills from a starting point of near 0 to being confident in using the tools at hand, Excel being one of these

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My time at Deloitte has excelled my initial expectations, my work is varied and challenging and following my initial training I've been given responsibilities in all aspects of my work. The training opportunities have been great and I've had the flexibility to take on training that interests me. The people I've met as part of the BrightStart scheme have been very supportive and have become good friends over the years.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The BrightStart scheme has improved in structure since I joined. Our new joiners over the past few years have benefited from a clear pathway from a career and training point of view, with support from their mentors to guide them. I've enjoyed the level of flexibility around what training I've wanted to do.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I've received great support at a number of levels, from my peers who joined with me to more experienced mentors and the Directors and Partners who I've come to know are always happy to make time to discuss my career and provide guidance. On projects I've found my teams to be fully supportive, engaging with me to boost my knowledge and confidence.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I had access to days off work to attend training, and have found the training staff to be attentive and engaged. I've had clear guidance to understand exactly what I need to achieve in order to pass various exams and not had a problem with contacting our training providers

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My training has been very complementary to my role, boosting my technical understanding as well as giving me a grounding in the basics of certain technologies and methods. My training has been related to my role and certain areas of study have come up on client site, boosting my confidence.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of communities to get involved in. For example, I've played in a number of touch rugby matches for our team and am part of the adventure sports club. There are also networks around fund raising that you can get involved in, such as football competitions and team events

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The support I've received through out my career to date has been excellent and I've always felt confident to pursue lines of work that interest me. I've also met some amazing people who have really inspired me, especially the female role models I've gained. Overall, I've had a great experience and couldn't fault it.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • I think its important to be yourself, and to bring your experiences to the table. Even if you have no obvious experience in the area you're applying to, you will have come into contact with Technology for example and will be able to speak about how you relate to it.
