  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to understand and excel my ability in management practice within my company. It involves me firstly going round all departments within my work place and understanding the day to day tasks and improving my management skills in different environments. I also undertake management relate tasks to improve my understanding of the business and what is excepted of each management roles outcomes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, my management skills and people skills have excelled. As well as my presentation and communication. I have also learnt new skills surrounding technology and utilising new software's and operating systems to deduct information to excel the outcomes of specific tasks. Also I have made improvements to my time management in setting aside time and allocating deadlines for specific tasks to be completed.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme. Everyday is different. It allows for a excitement around work so that I thoroughly enjoy coming to work and enduring all the challenges it throws at me everyday. The diversity at work is very enjoyable as you meet people that you usually would not come across in your day to day life

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is somewhat organised. As the programme is new to the business people need to adjust to me and what is expect of me to do to day to day. So there has been some teething problems with communication. But these issues did not last long after all things had been set up there has been no issues and has been plain sailing ever since.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A large amount of support. With my studies and also at work. I receive finical support with attending specific events and days out that relate towards my study or my role. I receive a day a week of which I can either come into work and study or stay at home.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A substantial amount. I have regular meeting with my practice tutor verbally and physically. As well as my academic tutor. I have a strong communication line with my tutor and also a very accessible website that include forums and direct communication lines with relevant parties. So it is easy to get assistance with specific issues with my studies.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It provides me with a better insight into specific effects of completing specific tasks properly. Allowing for me to analyse situations and evaluate them effectively. Also it has excelled my ability to manage people effectively ensuring that the best outcome is provided through staff. My understanding of sectors within the business has excelled allowing for me to understand more detailed issues within my role and also how this can effect the business.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are opportunities to get involved with the apprentice team at networking events with other apprentices and also with people from the business or the sector. Which is very helpful with excelling your networking skills. Also we are given the opportunity to get involved with University Graduates through conference calls about specific issues within the business etc.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Brilliant company to work for filled with interesting people. The logistics world is vast and very interesting to work in. There are so many opportunities to progress not only your career but also you as a person through the social aspect of the job allows for people to blossom and excel themselves into a career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DHL?
  • Be prepared for the early mornings. Make sure that you are good at communicating and confident with people. As this is essential in this workplace. Ensure that you are good at time management as working as well with university is very time constraining but it is all worth it in the end.
