I operate equipment used to go Live On Air or Record for the BBC. I operate sound equipment like a mixing desk for TV and Radio broadcast. I use editing software to create News packages. I interact with our contributors to make sure they are comfortable with the environment they are in.
I have been able to develop my broadcasting skills. Transferable skills like working in a team. Working under pressure because that is a constant in the broadcasting industry. Communication with multiple individuals. As well as Technical skills that will help me build a career in the industry. I am able to react and adapt to the requirements of the production.
I thoroughly enjoy the experience and opportunity the company and my teams have given me. It has been invaluable and has turned my life around. I know feel confident in my future thanks to the apprenticeship. I feel that the people in the BBC are able to make the balance of fun and learning expertly. It is clear everyone in the building has a passion.
I feel that the BBC has always made sure that I am valued while working with them. If I feel uncomfortable they will always accommodate that and has meant I can now face challenges I did not think I could do. I feel that I want to be in the company and that the company values my skills.
My Program is perfectly structured. It is fixed enough that I am constantly learning but fluid enough to let me learn what I want. My team is able to give me the responsibility needed to grow and the cushion of expertise to make sure my mistakes are easily corrected. Communication between the teams is fantastic
I receive limited if any support from Newcastle College. The college has had a high turnover of staff while I have been a part of the course. This has meant that the lecturers had been learning the coursework with us instead of being prepared for us. This has heavily impacted my studies in a negative way. I do not look forward to college time.
I receive the greatest support from the BBC. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] my Line manager and her crew are the best. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] cares for all of the people under her and has a vested interest in our future. With the massive amount of people that the crew have underneath them they always do their best to treat us like individuals.
My Salary is adequate to allow me to live independently. I can live a life outside my work life as well. I am able to live away from my family and able to pay bills in my current accommodation. I am also able to take regular trips back to my friends and family without having to worry about the monetary consequenses.
I have multiple ways to develop myself outside of the workplace. I can apply for training courses which I can develop myself from including the First Aid course I took. I am able to take advantages of employee discounts which allow me to enhance my social life like discounts to the CInema.
Yes
Because the BBC is accepting and is a multicultural team of various backgrounds, faiths and identities. I feel that the team is welcoming of whoever wants to work with them. It is also easier to intergrate different cultures in the workplace because we work so closely with each other. If you feel you can develop in the broadcasting industry then the BBC is the place to be.
