I am the corporate affairs apprentice based in the colleague and community engagement team. My role on a day to day basis revolves around project support, helping with our internal communication channels and admin tasks.
I have become more confident and gained various new skills such as understanding how people work differently and adapting to there personailty needs in order to get the best out of people. I have become better at presentations and am able to take leadership on projects and tasks. I have become better at time management and am able to stay organsied when times can become high capacity.
I enjoy my apprenticeship as i feel i have gained such a valuable experience that will benefit me throughout the rest of my career. I have an excellent team who are very supportive and are always happy to help or get me involved in new opportunities. The compnay itself has a great work ethic and culture where i feel comfortable in.
I feel like a valued member of Pfizer. They do not treat me like a 'typical apprentice' and i am often gaining internal recognition by not only my team but other colleagues aswell.
I would say my apprenticeship is flexible and i am able to be flexible with my study to fit around my day to day job. My manager is supportive of the fact that i do have to study aswell as work and i am able to block out times in my diary to concentrate on my assignments.
My training provider is supportive and they come into the office once a month to review and chat about work and can have the face to face discussions abouty any questions i may have. They are also quick at responding to my emails so i never feel like i am waiting around for further guidance.
My employer is more distant but is always quick to respond to emails. They come in every quarter to access my progress.
I would say that my wage is a lot lower than the average salary of people my age. I am lucky that i live close to the office and so my petrol costs arent to heavy.
Within Pfizer they run a programme where i became a STEM ambassador and i am able to volunteer in schools and inspire children. i also have a good social life and so find i have a good work-home life balance.
