  • It's a bit unorganised and has been for a while from both the training provider and employer. However, it is an excellent opportunity.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Arup?
  • A valued member of my team and I have had some excellent opportunities. I don't think this scheme compares as well to the graduate scheme.

    7/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Nor very. The introduction of new Government guidelines and different degree structure has been very unorganised, this is understandable as a pilot scheme but both the education provider and employer have run similar schemes for years, so this could have been a lot better.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • There has definiely been a lack in support from the training provider. Access to online learning has been an issue in the past as well as signing in. They are also fairly behind in organising the modules. However, when you specifically ask for help they do.

  • Very well.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are a lot, but as with any area of consulting civil engineering, this fluctuates depending on the current climate. At the moment their is a large push on infrastructure by the Government, so opportunities are available.

    8/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • When you work alongside a large number of other consulting engineering companies, you can see there is a large benefit to working at Arup with the difference in organisation and work. Having been seconded to different companies, it really highlights Arup's strengths.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
  • Work for a smaller company before if possible.
