  • I am a paint/surface finish apprentice. My jobrole changes weekly, however my overall role is to ensure the vehicles paint is in tip top condition.

  • Applying paint. Understanding the importance of preparing surfaces for paint.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is very enjoyable. I’ve learnt many new skills and had multiple opportunities to develop my knowledge in different aspects of surface finish.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BMW Group?
  • Very valued. We are treated as normal employees!

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very structured. I know when to attend to college and what we will be learning. I know what department I’m working in from week to week in the workplace.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • As much as I’d like. Additional support is available if required. We work at our own pace and providing we meet deadlines. There are no problems.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot. All our questions bad queries are answered. We have dedicated training staff in each department we work in.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Our wage is all higher than the national average. Some months are a squeeze, but I make it work.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Plenty. Paint professionals are always needed. Having the skills I’ve learnt are very useful!

  • Yes

  • Great atmosphere. Brilliant training. Good wage. Friendly hours. Plenty of opportunities.

  • Work hard and you will be rewarded. There is plenty of opportunities to develop and and progress throughout your career at rolls Royce.
