Commercial auditor, interacting with senior members of finance teams of the client you are auditing and other auditors within your team. Responsibility is large and is given from day one on the job. Almost all of the training is on the job, which you are to learn from your experiences.
I have learnt lots of new skills at Grant Thornton uk llp which I am very thankful for, such as confidence in speaking to groups of people, presentation skills, technical skills, delegation skills, speaking to a wide range of audience skills. I have also been put through level 3 AAT and level 4 AAT.
The culture has not significantly changed since I started my role at Grant Thornton UK LLP, there is a good social life, a good work to life balance, good support network, great people to work with and great futures. In all honesty I had higher expectations, but such is life I’m afraid.
There is little internal recognition noted from working with the firm for over 2 years now. I would say that we have lots of responsibility, but little recognition. I do think that this is something that the firm should work on as this used to be a real plus point at the firm, with better rewards on offer.
There is a severe lack of mentorship within the office, this is something that the firm should focus on as I believe there is potential for there to be a real special program in place. Grant Thornton UK LLP use Kaplan for training and they are a good training provider.
Grant Thornton UK LLP use Kaplan for training and they are a good training provider. They offer a large set of wide-ranging all-embracing extensive courses. Could not ask for anything more, if you are doing AAT and are after a little more assistance, the online portal is really very great.
There are managers in place to help with any queries you may have. The HR team are not really the people you would go and talk to, more if there is a serious serious issue. I would not say there is a lot of support offered, especially when it comes to personal matters.
Salary is good, it covers all costs and more, as well as saving. Daily commute is covered by expenses (T&C apply).
There are many socials planned and are in the pipeworks to be reveald in the office, most people are quite friendly so able to make friends if you put the effort in, which is important for when you are at college, as you can work as a good support network. I do believe that there are good opportunites outside work such as sports .
No
I would have preferred to go to uni
When you are apply to Grant Thornton UK LLP be yourself, as it will quickly become apparent if you are not being yourself. Employees at Grant Thornton UK LLP are hard working, fun and happy so if you are any of those then you will get on well. If you enjoy maths this is a good thing, but not essential funnily enough,
