  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to provide a high level of customer service to people who have bereaved relatives or friends that bank with us. I take first notifications, details of the death and certificates and forms involved, providing empathy and sympathy to the caller. I take pleasure in the rewarding aspect of the job, ie helping others.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes this current role is indeed a new skill. I am on a development course within my role to eventually be able to take on further and more in depth queries. Branching out my knowledge within the department and gaining lots of experience. I have eleven years practise at customer service anyway so this already prepares me for future aspects of the job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy meeting with my assesor and discussing all areas of the apprenticeship. I like to invest time into the research part of the course, answering all questions and cross referencing the information using my apprenticeship portfolio, and looking at the units within this. Classroom training is also enjoyable as we par take in activities and have group discusssions.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Lloyds Banking Group?
  • I feel very valued, and the very fact that we have been given this opportunity to complete the apprenticeship program through our existing day to day role and in the workplace means so much. My assesor, my manager and employer and colleagues alike are all very supportive of the programme and are keen for others to join in and gain those extra qualifications for future roles and jobs.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure is very easy to follow, having our portfolios and worksheets to continually refer to, plus the help of our asessors and managers. It is organised well however, time within working hours can sometimes be difficult to arrange as it may clash with other important things going on. This does take priority but if everyone works together i have found this can be resolved easily.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My training provider gives lots of support in terms of being able to easily contact them whether it be via email or phone if we have any queries or issues regarding the course. When they are in the work place they are very approachable and happy to assist if you are stuck with work or tasks at hand. They work alongside my manager to ensure that we are never without the correct guidance and referemnces so that we know what we are doing.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer provides alot of support by giving us time off to complete apprenticeship work. Any classroom training is keyed on our schedules in advance and is authorised by management first. As well as meetings with assessors and discussions etc. They are letting us do the programme over the course of one year, giving us time to fit it all in within work, very rarely expecting us to do work at home unless necessary

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary covers all work related expenses however the role i am in, doesnt involve much cost at all. The work i undertake is all within work time anyway, not only that we were provided with a notepad and portfolios at the beginning of the course to help with all work required. If we need to do work at home it is just our time and investment in research on the internet that we need to be doing which is expected.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Opportunities outside of work to explore such apprenticeships are there but few anbd far between, so this course is very fitting and appropriate. Withpout this opportunity i could aplly to local colleges as a mature student, or use more of my own time to do an online course however the same support may not be given, therefore highlighting how great this course is to do in the workplace.
