  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Job role as an apprentice is to follow the maintenace associates around the three technologies to be able to learn the role. Within this I could be attending different breakdowns on various pieces of machinery that could be affecting the production of the cars. By shaowing these people we get to see the environement they work in and how they go about each job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • so far i am enjoying my apprenticehsip program, this is down to the mixture of jobs that I can do on my day to day job and therefore no day at work is the same. A big part of my job is being able to work as a team, this can be extremely important when fault finding, which could reduce the time the fault is for. the apprenticeship is meeting my expecations and more as I have recently been able to go on robot training courses, giving me a better understanding on how they work, and how to control them.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • if requiured i can get support from my training provider, such as from the managers or even the tutors. Every three months I have a review which a representative from the training provider will be in there as well as my line manager to then discuss how I am getting on with my college work and also my placements. If I have any questions that I can always refer back to them and this will get dealt with.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer will give as much support as is required depending on personal requirements. Once every three weeks I have a meeting with my training advisor which he then asks for any questions that I may have and then get give him any improvements that I may have as this could make my time during the apprenticehsip as best as possible.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • At the start of the apprentceship the salary was sufficent and would cover all my living cost. During the apprenticeship I have recieved payrises, dependant on my performance with my practical and theroetical work. The payrises will continue, still performance related which is fair so therefore I think this is good.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Oppurtunities for the company outside of work are there and I can apply to go and participate in them. These activitves go from charity events such as bike rides, to then cake sales, promoting the apprenticehsip at carrers events. The carrer events allow potential applicants to get to speak to us apprenctices face to face to allow them to ask questions they may have.

  • 9. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recomend a BMW group apprenticeship to a friend as firstly the qualifications that you get from the apprenticeship are very good and also free. There is also an anual salary which will be increased on good performance throughout the apprenticeship and there is also an oppurtuinty of being able to get a car through work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • When applying I would plan everything out before actual putting it in for application. For example on the application plan out what you want to say and read it through, rather than just putting this on there straight away. When coming for an interview I would also put a lot of preperation into this to make sure on the day you are preapred as possible.
