  • 4. How valued do you feel by Arup?
  • I feel very valued by Arup, if you do something good or go above and beyond such as doing overtime work you are thanked. achievements are shared through the company on things such as the yammer pages. if you work well, people are always happy to have you in the team as you are a benefit and you feel valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my program has been very well organized, it was a day release program to college which worked well to have the best of work and college in one. the training at work is very hands on which is great and the college work is challenging but valuable. if there was ever an issue you can happily go to a manager or a member of the team to speak about it, and they will do their best to sort it out for you. we have monthly ,meetings in which we can also raise any concerns. as for in house, there is a hierarchy of staff who will delegate to you from all levels so the work is very varied. it has been very well organized.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • the training provider was good however there were a few times that concerns were raised, these were sorted out however and overall it was a positive experience, we had a tutor who was a point of reference for guidance with any issues. they were always happy to listen and sort the issue with you and I did enjoy it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Arup is very good at all levels for support, you have a mentor who you can go and speak to at any time, however that goes for anyone. the HR team are able to answer questions and if there is anything confidential it can be taken to them in privacy. you can always speak to someone.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For me my salary meets my costs fairly well, travel is quite expensive for me but that is just because I live quite far from work and there are some offers on things like bike schemes to help with this.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • the company has a very active life outside office hours and inside. there are lots of sports clubs and talks, as well as charity events and simple things like going to the pub. you can become a Stem ambassador and this leads on to volunteering opportunities. Offices are normally based in active areas like Bristol so there are loads of places to go.

  • 9. Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • it is an excellent company which look after you, offer you interesting and varied work and give you a great way into the sector.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
  • take time and care on your application, be honest about things. the interviews can seem scary but the people are very friendly and there really isn't anything to be worried about, they just want to learn more about you. there are workshops which can also seem scary but again it is all about meeting you and learning about you.
