  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a variety of new techniques and processes through the continued practice of engineering. This is done through btec via the Birmingham metropolitan college as well as working hands on in the workshop with fully qualified and experienced trainers. By working with others, my teamwork skills have also increased as my co-workers and I had to help each other in order to progress

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We frequently receive feedback from the training providers in the workshop, and support can easily be found whether from the training provider or the fellow colleagues. • Support from the managers in the department are avaliable at most given times. My manager has an open door to any queries or help that I need and will take the time to listen to any problems I have. My trainers also have a very wide range of experience in the engineering field, meaning they can answer any question I might have because they would already have learnt it before

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary and some of the packages that come along with the job are great, for example being able to get a car off the scheme is great, without it I would’ve had to buy a car and pay for the insurance which would be much more expensive then the car scheme. The salary allows me to pay my living costs, e.g. rent. Daily costs and social costs. I also have enough money for pay for travel costs as i live fairly far away from the plant.

  • 9. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The apprenticeship scheme offers and qualification and job experience for little to no cost at all. The wage the apprentices are given is one of the best in the country as well as making it worth the while. There I also a car scheme which you are immediately eligible for which allows you to drive a range of BMW's and mini's for a reduced cost. Although this may not be suitable for people living in their own as house prices around oxford are high

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • You need to be committed throughout the entire process, i would suggest bringing a powerpoint or evidence that youve been proactive. You need to be confident and have good communication skills. You must stay on top of your work load this yet again will put you infront of others.
