  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an apprentice at the BMW Group we are based in a workshop gaining skills and knowledge within the engieering industry. This includes basic hand fitting to mehcanical assemblies.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since joing BMW Group in 2017 I have gained new skills frm things I had never done before, such as usinga mill and learning to weld. It is all very interesting and I enjoy every moment

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I think the the programme is very fun. I learn a new thing every day and this helps me extend my technical skill and gain technical knowledge too.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BMW Group?
  • As a first year apoprentice I do feel BMW Group try their best to show you are as valued as the rest of the employees and show this very well by communicating eberything to you and geting you invloved too.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course is well structured. On a monday we do BTEC work to get our qualification and then tuesday to friday we are based in the workshop doing tehcnical things and learning how to use machinery and more. Overall it is well structured

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We get regualr feedback from the trainers on how we can improve and what are our strong points. They support us in making improvements.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Managers are always looking to support you, as well as the HR group. They take your requests of support very serious and always try their best to help when its needed.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think the salary as an apprentice is amazing. It allows a good amount of money making living costs affordable at the same time as leaving enough money for bills, food and travel. With a starting salary of £12,000 it allows all costs affordable and easy to structure.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • If im 100% I haven't seen many external oppurtunities myslef but have heard stories from others of the type of things BMW Group offer. I think they need to make it more clear and communicate is to us so we are aware of these oppurtunities.

  • 9. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The programme is very fun, you meet amazing people and gain new friends. You are treated with respect and there are many benefits from the course. For example at 18 years old, if you can drive, you can have a brand new MINI/BMW.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Be honest during the application process. Show confidence, not too much. Ask questions and show that you are geniunly interested in the engineering world.
