  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a business analyst. I am currently doing the role of a service desk analyst. Day to day I answer tickets and calls from customers about queries or issues they are having, if I can I will answer the question or fix the problem, otherwise I pass this onto a specialised team to complete. I also complete daily reports for the service desk and if I have time I will work on any university work I have.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My scheme has introduced me to people, who I otherwise would not have become friends with. The teams have worked with have been supportive and helpful, understanding that I am a school leaver.I have enjoyed meeting new friends and colleagues through the scheme. The scheme has been different than I expected, I have done a range of roles and my degreee modules where different than I thought they would be. However I am enjoying the scheme and look forward to what comes next.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Deloitte?
  • Deloitte use several different methods to show you are appreciated, from verbal recognition to physical recognition in the form of vouchers. Deloitte try and get you involved with as many different projects and tasks as they can in order to make sure you are well rounded and can tackle anything the company throws at you.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction for the programme lasts 12-14 weeks, in this you learn the basics of how to do your timesheet, submit expenses and use your emails. You also learn more service line specific activities such as what your roles will entail, what important tools you need etc. Deloitte provide you with a 'coach' and a 'buddy' to ensure you are supported, your 'buddy' is a more casual person you can go to if you have any questions. Your 'coach' is more of a mentor who will help you with your career direction. Throughtout the scheme there is an opportunity for continuous training, provided you wish to complete it. I would say though that because my year was the first year to go through the scheme not everything had been considered before we joined, there are still some things that need to be ironed out and considered in order to allow the scheme to continue to be successful

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • With regards to university, we have much support offered to us as regular students would get. However at times because we work full time we sometimes do not have the time to go and meet with lecturers. We also find that sometimes our employer and our university have not shared the same information and will conflict with each other

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Within Deloitte we have a wide range of support available to us, we have a coach, a buddy, your project manager and your line manager. Each of these provide a different type of support with your coach and buddy being your first line of support. I find that myy coach would be more helpful to me than my buddy because i have a better relationship with them as we meet more frequently. We also have an intranet that has links to online support if required.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • When I first started the scheme I thought my salary was really good, but I think this was because I was coming straight out of school. As I've joined the scheme and been going through it I've found that I also struggle from month to month to cover costs. I have to pay for travel to and from work, parking, my car payments and insurance, try and save some money for the future and also do social activities with my friends. I find that my salary barely covers these things meaning I have to use th money I planned for savings instead of saving it

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • The company do a lot of events throughout the year. We have events with our project teams, dinner and drinks, we have a monthly event with our main teams, normally to talk about what we've been doing on our projects and to catch up with each other as some people travel with their projects. The company also do work with charities so we can get involved with those activities outside of workand they also do a lot of community work.

  • 9. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Although the scheme is hardwork and has its flaws, I would still recommend it to others and would still choose Deloitte's scheme if I had to do it again.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Ask lots of questions if you're unsure, there is no such thing as a silly question and if you have a question someone else will too. The application process is long but stick to it and give it your best, every stage matters. The onboarding and training is long too but don't panic if you don't remember everything because you can ask anyone later on and there are so many resources available to support you.
