  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My official job title is "Software Engineer Lead", and over the last 5 years I have become specialized in the area of Retail. More specifically enterprise planning with space management applications. Vendors that I hold a strong relationship with are SAP and JDA. I am part of a small project delivering a global template solution for a popular DIY retailer. Everyday, I am faced with typical software deliverable which require knowledge of SQL, C# and .NET.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained new and developed a range of skills since joining the Capgemini degree apprenticeship. I have obtained official certification with JDA for numerous applications that they supply. I have also had a host of certifications internally to Capgemini, which in my opinion are competitive and market leading.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme 110%, because of the way in which Capgemini progress us at a steady pace with detailed reviews resulting in payrises and promotions.

  • I feel highly valued at Capgemini, because I receive enough support from leadership and peers, in addition to being recognized for my achievements.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Being one of the first companies to deliver a cohort of apprentices graduating on a Degree apprenticeship, Capgemini have structured the programme with care and professionalism.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive support from the training provider; before, during, and after the training course. There are individuals across the programme that can be contacted to resolve outstanding issues or if support is needed.

  • I receive a more than satisfactory amount of support from my employer.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary/package outweighs my cost greatly, justifying another reason why I enjoy working for Capgemini.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are multiple opportunities and activities outside of work. All we need to do is suggest and organise them for approval. More often than not they are approved or rejected with a clear reason as to why.

  • Yes

  • Excellent progression tracks available, travel, support is exemplar, and the network you are able to build will support you for a lifetime.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Be yourself, understand the heritage of Capgemini and if there is a specific industry you would like to enter, then you must research that market in detail. Capgemini are keen to understand the latest trends and technology, bring this to the table.
