My role as a broadcast operator involves getting involved in national and regional television and radio. My daily tasks include operations in sound, multimedia coordination, cameras, editing, digital online and engineering.
I have learnt plenty of skills and gained valuable and transferrable qualifications. I have had the opportunity to be sent on external courses such as First Aid training.
I'm very proud to work for the organisation. The company look after me, the team works well and everyone is enthuastic about teaching. I enjoy my job because it's never the same every day, I'm always learning.
My contribution is valued and we get recognition for our work. This can be a verbal congratulations or being requested to operate various craft skills.
The apprenticeship sceheme is newly introduced so organisation is developing but improving. Certain elements were not structured when I started but the key for myself was self-development.
Working remotely is very difficult. I can request help and they're more than happy to give it but when they have other responsibilities it is a waiting game.
I receive lots of support whilst on placement from my manager and supervisor as well as the academy. They have my best interests in mind and aim to give me every opportunity I want to take.
The expenses are reasonable however, I do feel the apprentice salary is less than deserving. We work as regular employees when on placement and work actual shifts so it should be more.
There are plenty of opportunities socially and developmental. There are a range of courses we can attend that are work related. The hours are demanding so this can impact what you do during the times you're not working but they are rewarding if you enjoy your job.
Yes
The company is a great place to work for, they have your best intentions in mind and the skills are transferrable. It's a place to work for life.
Have the willingness to learn and delve into situations or learning opportunities you might not necessarily have to. It can be in useful in any situation.
