  • Planning Assistant, monitoring progress on site, maintaining KPI's and Outputs, monitoring Earned Value and producing construction programmes.

  • I have gained 2 higher education qualifications including a degree whilst with the business. Training is exceptional at LOR and this includes soft skills such as management of staff, organization and time management etc.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme modules are stimulating and are great ways of making you see things from an alternate perspective. The hours can sometimes however be overbearing and make a work life balance difficult.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Laing O'Rourke?
  • Not very at times, particularly since leaving the Cadet Programme. during the programme there is an unbelievable amount of support and guidance but once you become qualified this does not continue.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was well organized, we were given a 5 year structure on beginning of what we could expect over the coming years. typically a year before each module you were notified of the exact dates of the course and you were able to manage your workload and arrange for support if this was required.

  • During the programme an exceptional amount including access to counseling facilities and soft skill training should it be required.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • very well. Manchester Based and when ive been required to work away from home my salary has been adjusted accordingly.

  • We try to get involved with local communities to change the face of the construction industry.

  • 9. Would you recommend Laing O'Rourke to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • overall they are a good company to work for and do take care of staff very well, however sometimes because of the number of staff and size of some projects you can be made to feel like a number rather than a person.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Laing O'Rourke?
  • if you don't know the answer to a question you are asked don't be afraid to admit you don't know but suggest you will research it when you get the chance. you wont know everything, interviewers are not trying to catch you out.
