Trainee Design Engineer Review

My job title is trainee design engineer. my daily job is assisting design engineers in designing electrical circuits and programs for railway equipment. I am now in my second year of this role so my responsibilities have expanded. I am expected to know more and do more without the help of others. recently I have been working on the SDA project this is running from stirling to alloa.

I have learnt a lot of new skills not only specific to my job but I could also use in later life. job specific, I have a PTS qualification, Mod 5 qualification, BST qualification and I also have emergency first aid and working at heights. the courses I have planned for this coming year are RRI and IST which will help a lot in the office as the jobs I am getting are more difficult. overall career wise I have a svq level 2 and working towards my level 3, I also have just completed my HNC and im going on to do my HND.

Its fantastic, not only does it give you money to do what you want, it helps you grow as a person. Working in a professional environment everyday and people taking on board your thoughts and opinion is really good, especially if you compare it to school where you weren't really given any reasonability.

I feel valued as Siemens are investing a lot of time and money in training me. they obviously want you to be the best for there part so you are able to produce the best work, but as a person with ambition to do well this is also very rewarding.

Our programme is organised well, from the get go you have an overall picture to what your apprenticeship programme is going to look like, which is good. on the job training is good too, a lot of people in office are more than happy to answer any questions and share their knowledge with you.

my training provider has been really good, any problems I had or issue they were more than happy to sort it out and they did. attending college on day release has been good as well all the lecturers are more than understanding when it comes to work load etc. I have thoroughly enjoyed attending college and the training centre

support from my employer has been good, they have been more than happy to let me further my qualification at college and with any help I need on the day to day jobs they are always there to help.

the salary that Siemens offers is really good, it allows me to do so much more in my free time and allows me to run a car, and still have money to buy stuff and go out with friends. it also covers all the other bills like my phone and spotify etc.

there is a few, I play 5's on a Friday after work which is a good way to get involved and get chatting to other people that you wouldn't necessarily talk to. their are also various voluntary initiatives,i recently helped out at a street league event which is a charity for young people that are struggling to find work.

They seem to invest a lot of time and money into me, this shows they want you to be the best which is good. They have a relaxed atmosphere in the office which is good especially if this is your first proper job. you also have opportunities to work on site which is really good too.

write as much relatable things that you have done that would benefit you in the work place, stay calm and enjoy the interview and assessment days. I got told everything I wanted to know at the interview and if I didn't I just asked ?(ask questins!!)
