  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program as it sets you up for the world of work. Learning and earning is the best combination as you gain not only a salary but knowledge and skills; which is the best of both worlds. I was nervous as first because it was all new to me but now once I got the hang of it I enjoy what I do and have found something that I enjoy which is dealing exploring medicines and being able to help people.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Boots?
  • I feel very valued, mainly by my pharmacy team as they support me so much and always praise how well I do and how much I have developed as a person from knowing nothing to knowing everything. They always tell me how I've become a great asset to the team and they wouldn't want me to leave. I feel very valued and important to the team definitely.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is structured to an extent, I think one of the downfalls especially in retail is there isn't much time to deal with everything at once, there are always things that need dealing with and therefore you can be pushed to the side but not intentionally. You just have to use initiative and push things forward as if you wont ask you wont get. So its difficult sometimes in always trying to be onto of things but it is more or less oragnised in terms of making sure I've completed the tasks I know i need doing.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a lot of support, we have training days where we can ask all the questions we want and even when we're not physically together I can contact them any time via whatsapp, email, phone etc. So it is really good having those platforms and if you need help with something they will always get involved and make sure you're receiving the right experience and completing things that needs doing.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do receive a lot of support, she is there when I need her and helps me out when she has time, luckily she is easy to talk to therefore I can feel free to have a conversation if something is on my mind or I am worried about something o even if something needs doing she will make sure it happens and back me up.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It meets beyond my expectations because a lot of apprenticeships do only give out the bar minimum apprenticeship wage but luckily with Boots you get paid the same as everyone else that is a standard worker, and which is a lot more than i expected which is definitely a bonus and especially in my role the salary does go up once i have qualified.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, in my apprenticeship there is because I can go to all different types of pharmacies even go to hospitals and also progress further up along the ladder such as an ACT which is really good. So it isnt a dead end which is the important thing as it doesnt feel like youre wasting your time and you can work towards something.

  • Yes

  • Because boots has a lot of knowledge with the course you do, and therefore you will have team that can guide you and support you. Boots is a well known organisation and its a good place to set you up for the world of work and developing skills as a person as well as developing knowledge.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Boots?
  • I would say show enthusiasm and show that you are interested, they like people who use initiative and are confident to try new things, this looks good to anyone and is good to develop those skills once you manger to work yourself.
