Credit Risk Apprentice Review

In my role as a credit risk apprentice, I carry out a number of admin based tasks to help my wider team. I created a tracker to ensure that everyone in the team can be kept up to date on the work that has been completed and when certain work is due.

I have learned lots of new skills so far on my apprenticeship including how to use Microsoft excel. I have also developed my existing skills on Microsoft office by attending a number of webinars and training courses. I am also currently studying to gain my Professionals Bankers Certificate.

I have really enjoyed my programme so far. My colleagues are very supportive and have taken the time to make me feel like a valuable member of the team. As well as that I have been enjoying the number of different things I have learned and had the opportunity to do as part of my role.

I feel very valued by RBS because my line manager and my team are very quick to recognise when I have done a good piece of work. I feel that the company as a whole are very good at noticing and sharing when their staff have done good work.

I personally feel that the programme is fairly well structured but there is still room for improvement. I feel that in the run up to the induction more could have been done to advise me of what the role would entail. Other than that I feel the process was ok.

I receive lots of support from my training provider and I know that if I have any problems I could go to them and get a swift response. The people who I have dealt with have always been very happy to help me with any problems I have had.

My employer has been very good at supporting me in my role. I have a number of different people who I could go to for help and support and all of them are always very happy to help and offer me support.

I feel my salary meets my costs very well. My salary comfortably covers the costs of both my living expenses and my travel and still leaves me with enough money to save some each month.

There are a number of leisure opportunities outside of work that I could participate in but currently I don't do any of these. There are also a number of volunteering opportunities throughout the year that I could participate in.

I would recommend RBS to a friend because I have been treated very well since I joined and find the company to be very supportive of their employees. They also offer a very good salary.

The piece of advice I would give to others is that the application process is quite long so be prepared for that. Also I would have liked to have been told the time between being offered the job and the start date can be a fairly long.
