  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job role is to prepare various engineering drawings which are dependent on the project i am working on. I am usually working with colleagues that are in other offices throughout the UK and as such rely on communications via email and telephone calls.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my CAD skills since beginning my apprenticeship and have been provided with training courses for various software packages.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my work, the team i work with are always willing to help with any questions i have.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Arup?
  • I get recognition from those i am working with when deemed appropriate.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The support and training available to me is fantastic, my lecturers at college are always available and willing to help when needed.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My college provide me with any help that i need, my lecturers are approachable and are always willing to offer guidance.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager and those in the HR department for my office are very approachable with any problems that i may have, there is also a team dedicated to providing support to Apprentices.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I receive a competitive salary with bonus' within my package.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We have a sports and social committee within the office who organize various activities.

  • 9. Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Those that work at Arup are friendly, knowledgeable easily approachable. Support is there for any situation if needed and the atmosphere within the teams is great. There are many opportunities to progress which are fully supported by the company and are encouraged.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
  • I would advise them to enjoy their assessment days as much as possible, and try not to be nervous.
