1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
Every day is different but mostly I engage with customers and assist the Assistant relationship director and the relationship director with their tasks including chasing forms, faxing, filling in forms and then ensuring they get to the right place in a time efficient manner.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I've started to learn about banking as a subject through BPP and therefore extending my knowledge of the economy and the law and regulations surrounding it. I have also learnt how to do daily office work such as copying and faxing which I didn't know how to do beforehand which is a useful thing to have learnt.
3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
I thoroughly enjoy this programme as every day is different and as well as learning, I get to do a proper job and work as part of team that has many different people with different experiences and stories which is useful and insightful. It has exceeded my expectations as I come to work ready every day
4. How valued do you feel by RBS?
I feel very valued as my manager is always involving me with their tasks and giving me small projects to ensure I always have something to be focussed on. Many people ask me to help them with jobs which makes me feel useful and helpful
5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
Inductions were really good as it was a 2 day session about both the Bank and the Apprenticeship which was really useful and full of information. I do a full day of study each week which works well for me and is helping me to learn a lot more effectively. I have catch ups with my manager about how I am doing and can talk to any one if I feel worried or uneasy which is great.
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
The tutor is very good and is always available to ask questions to and my personal assessor Is very nice and we have monthly phone calls to discuss progress and I feel like if I have any issues I can contact her and she will be there to help. I am enjoying it.
6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
My manager keeps check on how I am doing and hhow I feel within my role and is always making sure I have something to do. another colleague has acted as my mentor and is always there to support me and guide me with the tasks I get.
7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
My wage is sufficient to meet my travel and living costs with me being able to save some per month to go towards something in my future which is really useful and re-assuring. Location of work Is great as it is right in the centre and I ccan get bus or train.
8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
There are lots of voluntary opportunities with my being able to go into schools with MoneySense and lots more to do with many different charities which is brilliant. I can go to the gym which is down the road from work which is very useful but would be great if a gym membership was part of the RBS benefits ? I baked a lot when I wasn't working and would love to somehow bring this into work either for charity or something likr that.
9a. Would you recommend RBS to a friend? *
9b. Why? *
RBS has been a great opportunity for me to get and has developed my confidence so much in the past few months that I have been here. It is eye opening to the world of banking and they really look after you so people would be lucky to work here.
