I am a Mechanical/Electronic technician, I assist my team with any project they need help with, i am also given the opportunity to progress my own ideas and submit them for a patent. I am pushed to communicate with as many people as possible, as networking is a major part of 3M.
I have learnt many new skills in my time at 3M, including but not limited too, CAD design, mechanical assembling techniques, Health & Safety guidelines and language, and electronic theory. As well as furthering my communication skills. I have learnt so much at my college that i cannot list them.
The overall experience has been excellent, The team are incredibly supportive with technical problems as well as being extremely friendly. The work is fun and informative, but has a nice level of difficulty with it to keep you driven and further your knowledge.
I feel incredibly valued, as i am in my second year of the apprenticeship, my work has started to become more challenging and make a difference in large projects. This makes me feel like i am a part of the company and appreciated. My team and management also make me feel valued as we have bi-weekly meeting that cover how i am finding the apprenticeship.
The programme has been very well structured. I know exactly what work needs to be completed and to what extent. I have set times for Studying and training at work.
i receive an ample amount of support from all parties involved in my programme, my team and manager are always there to support me with any problems i have. My training provider is very efficient with his work and is more than happy to offer any help.

The salary is good, it covers my cost of living, and allows me to have some social costs as well. My travel for college and any travel for the company is paid for.
3M offer many opportunities for voluntary work in their STEM programmes, they also advise employees to go to training events and other events such as the TCT show at the NEC.
Yes
3M has been an amazing company to be part of; it has helped me grow in many ways, as stated previously, and it has also been immensely enjoyable. I would recommend 3M to everyone.
I would advise people to come prepared for an interview, gather information about 3M before the interview and share the knowledge you gained. This shows that you are interested and that you are able to do independent research. I would also suggest asking as many questions as possible since an inquisitive mind is what they are looking for.
