Project Management Higher Apprentice. Scheduling, finance and budgeting, risk & opportunity, organising and attending meetings, creating presentations.
In this scheme after 3 years I will be an APM certified Project Manager. I will also have a Foundation Degree in Project Management. After 5 years I will then have an Honours Degree in Project Management. My communication skills have vastly improved through dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.
The work is very exciting as I deal with new technologies on a daily basis. No day is the same as the previous. The immediate team I work in, and further employees, are all very helpful and friendly. It is a positive working environment.
I feel like I am a very valued team member here. I am always asked for my opinion and when I talk, my thoughts are heard and taken into account. When I am involved in extra tasks, and going above and beyond, this is often recognised in the monthly bulletin
When I joined there was a whole week purely dedicated to induction to the company and the scheme. Uni training is the same time every week and it is always clear when certain deadlines need to be met.
We have a tutor purely dedicated to our scheme. Due to having a small class we get a lot of one-to-one training. There is always support if we need it and the learning is always engaging.
My manager is always available and open to offer support. With the team I work with, no question is a bad question. There is a HR manager purely for helping apprentices and she is never more than a phone call away. Overall it is a good environment because there are no worries about asking for support.
No other apprenticeship salary comes near to what BAE offer. It covers all my monthly costs, allows me to invest in shares and savings accounts whilst still leaving excess money to do as I please.
I am constantly receiving emails relating to many stretch assignments that are available for me to get involved in. This can vary from the APM Challenge to careers events and extra projects at work.
