  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My current Job Title is Apprentice Information Security Specialist. On a daily basis I'm working on several accounts conducting tasks such as reporting, analysis and ticket raising, I help to ensure that in the event that things go wrong they're chased up and the appropriate individuals are made aware of the situation and are kept up to speed with any progress we've made. I also have responsibilities such as making sure I'm in work on time and making sure I act accordingly as this is what is expected of me. I also communicate information on these accounts with other members of Atos who are located within the same office as me as well as other offices with the UK.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time with Atos I've been put forward to take part in the SSCP exam and learn new skills and knowledge in and around the IT industry. I then use these skills within my daily tasks such as my new abilities in producing scripts for Excel. I also used the information that I've learned from my time here in my QA course to further my learning.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme very much, I love coming into work as my daily tasks are interesting and engaging, my fellow colleagues bring a great atmosphere into the office and everyone is very open and accepting of one another. I never feel that I am being judged by others and everyone respects one another. It meets my expectations of the programme.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Atos?
  • I feel as if I am a great asset to my team as well as the accounts that I work on, I get a great sense of proud when other individuals commend me on my work and make sure that I am aware of the impact I have on my accounts. This allows me to see where I sit and how much my hard work helps others within the company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised, we had a very appropriate induction which allowed all the new starts to make new friends with their colleagues whom they'd be working with for the course of the programme. We get support when ever we need it in terms of personal issues or ones within the work place, I have regular catch ups to ensure that everything is fine and if there are any issues they are raised immediately.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive a similar level of support from our training provider as we do our employer, the assessors provided great information and guidance for our course and were a massive help.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The volume of support I have received from my employer is substantial, within and outside of the office environment. If for example I'm having issues at home I feel safe knowing I can talk to my manager about it to adapt my work around it to help with the situation. If I can't complete some work on an account because I don't have the right level of training then I'm very happy in knowing my manager will get the appropriate training for me to ensure I can complete my account work.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I fell as if the salary is very appropriate for my personal costs in terms of living, travel and social. However if I was living on my own and had a car to pay for as well the salary would need to be a little bit higher to support that lifestyle, but in my current position the salary is great.
