  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a non functional software so my usual day would be spent writing scripts in order to test the performance of a given website/URL. After these scripts have been written I would perform the tests and get results back showing the average response time and how many errors occurred whilst the test was running.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely developed a lot of skills in my role. One of these was time management, this was my first job and I thought I knew time management, but after working for a week I realised I started to learn better ways to manage this. Further more I developed my team working skills as well as gaining general software testing skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed my programme as it allowed me to experience a lot more than I was expecting. My company did a lot of residential experiences which lead to this being so enjoyable. Whilst being enjoyable these were also educational and found a great way to get across what was needed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme was very well structured from both my company and training provider. My training provider provided me everything I needed to know well in advance. Further more my company built me from the ground up, due to me having no testing knowledge I got to understand basics before starting to learn NFT.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer was very supportive and I had weekly 1-2-1s with my manager in order to establish what I needed in order to complete my apprenticeship successfully. Also throughout all my time I have had a dedicated mentor on my team that I could go to if I was struggling with anything.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider was extremely supportive. I had monthly 1-2-1s with my mentor and we would go through the progress I had made in the last month and what I need to complete in the next to remain on track. Also if ever I needed anything I knew I was welcome to email my mentor and ask.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifications I have gained through my training provider have massively helped me to perform in my role. They have opened my eyes wider than just the experiences I have had working and allowed me to know other key things I should be looking out for and trying to implement within my workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Our company provides a huge variety of social events. There is a little bit for everyone, for example sports events, nights out, food events and networking events. I have no doubt that their is something for everyone, further more they make it easy for you to plan your event should you want to do that.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Atos to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • it has been a great company to work for and the teams I have worked with have been super supportive and helped me get through my apprenticeship by providing me knowledge and experience. They haven't thought of me as "just an apprentice" and tried to focus their work around me so I could get the experiences I needed to write about for my apprenticeship.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Atos?
  • I would just say try your best. It is a super kind working environment so even if you aren't super expertized in an area, the team there will help you keep up to date and progress yourself further and allow you the career path you'd like by providing internal opportunities.
