  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I audit companies, so I go out onsite to clients offices, and undertake a variety of audit programmes designed to judge whether the financial statements show a true and fair view.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am training for the AAT qualification, and will move onto ACA next year to complete my chartered accountancy training. I am also learning transferable skills, such as how to work in a team and communicate professionally. I have also learned fundamental audit skills required for my job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I quite enjoy this programme - I find that every day is different, work wise. The teams are constantly changing so I get to work with different people every week, and the work environment is very positive.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Mazars LLP?
  • I feel quite valued, particularly by colleagues I actually work with. We have an internal recognition scheme which we can nominate colleagues for depending on whether on not they have shown good qualities (fitting certain categories).

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised - we have an induction process, both within work and at college, and training is provided via day release courses. We have mentors with whom we can meet and ask questions about work, training, etc.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider, through classroom based lessons, and lots of resources, such as online tests, workbooks and question banks.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very considerate of the fact that I am still training, and I feel that if I had a problem regarding this, I could let my employer know and they would take steps to help me in this.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary I receive is very competitive, and from talking to other friends in similar roles, I feel quite lucky with the salary/package I receive from my employer.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are lots of CSR opportunities, charity events and other sports events, for example, which we are encouraged to take part in, and the team spirit is very positive which makes it nice to partake in outside-of-work events.

  • Yes

  • The work environment is very positive, the people are great, there is always an opportunity to do something different every day; the benefits and salary are good too.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mazars LLP?
  • I would say try looking at the insight days they hold in the summer for experience in the field. Look online at the Mazars graduates website for information on the application process and do lots of research.
