  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the mortgage operations team. In my team, we process maternities, joiners, leaver, tranfers, systems access, etc. It's basically a mini HR within Mortgage Operations.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by NatWest?
  • I think RBS is a great company to work for. You see a lot of bad press about them, but the work everyone puts in behind the curtains is incredible. There are a lot of benefits for the employees including a 25% bonus on top of your standard salary.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think it could have been a bit more organised. There were quite a few adjustments made to the program after advertisement but once we got past that, it was great.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • BPP is great. They answers all my emails instantly and give great responses. They will answer any query, big or small. We once had a complication with our course but once we reported it, we instantly had a call the next week with someone from BPP who sorted out the problem and apologised.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Our center has a person who looks after apprentices and she is great. She is really supportive and you can go to her about anything. The Early Careers in HR are just as good and will go out of their way to help you.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It is great compared to the other apprenticeships. RBS give a very comptetitive salary. They also give 25% on top of your standard salary, this is called the value account. Also, they review your performance every year end and if you have performed well, you get a pay rise.

  • Yes, RBS do many outside of work events which you can get involved in. Whether it's going to schools to teach kids how to manage their money or doing a 10K run for charity.

  • 9. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think RBS is a very reputable company who honestly do look after their employees. It doesnt matter if you're an apprentice, you still get the same opportunities as any oother employee.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Research RBS' values and goals. Find out what they plan to become and research it's other groups. RBS is not the only bank it looks after. Just be yourself in the interview; after all, its an apprenticeship, they understand you may not have had much experience.
