What is your role and what have you learnt from your experience in this role?

I am a business administration apprentice for Newcastle Financial Advisers limited, part of Newcastle Building Society. I support the financial advisers by completing tasks such as gathering data about policies for them to look at and fill in proformas for them. I have learned how to manage my workload and this has given me the skills to take into the wider world, as they are very transferable. I have also improved my networking skills and have expanded my network to gain skills and knowledge about the industry.

What have been your highlights?

My highlights have been having the ability and flexibility to manage my own workload and the freedom that I get from that. I also love being able to work with experts from the industry and this can help to aid my development.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to apply for an apprenticeship at Newcastle Building Society?

Be confident! The recruitment process gives you a unique ability to showcase yourself across different areas and you can really demonstrate your strengths to the hiring managers.
