Helping to shape the future of Dairy

Emma Robinson has recently complete a three-year Dairy Technologist Apprenticeship with Arla Foods.

After leaving school Emma’s career saw her move into the finance and HR sectors. It soon became appar-ent that this type of work wasn’t really appealing and she was struggling to gain a sense of achievement. After looking into the Eden Dairy Technology programme, she felt it was a great opportunity develop her career in an exciting and fast moving industry and gain a foundation degree at the same time.

During the programme, students spend residential periods each year gaining technical know-how at a purpose-built, £multi-million training centre at Reaseheath College. When they’re not at college, they are based at an Arla Foods site putting learning into practice. During her time on the residential courses, Emma was given the opportunity to see how Dairies worked and got to know the other students. Over the three years she was given the opportunity to make a range of dairy products in the college’s well-equipped production hall and given an insight into Dairy Innovation.

Emma said “The course gave me an opportunity to gain a degree whilst developing valuable on the job experience, opportunities like this do not come by very often…. Since completing the programme I have moved into the role of Process Team Leader, if it was not for the experience, knowledge and confidence I gained through Eden I believe I would never have got this positon.”
