I am an Apprentice Civil Engineer in the Rail sector, currently studying towards a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Civil Engineering. I support my team in delivering engineering designs and solutions to clients. Why do you love working at Arcadis? I love working at Arcadis because there is a great culture and teams of inspiring people who are delivering really innovative and impressive projects.

Can you describe a ‘typical day’ in your role?

My role is mainly office based where I undertake design calculations and prepare reports that are issued to the client. I use a wide range of software such as Microsoft Excel & Word, AutoCAD, Micro drainage and BIM360. I sometimes attend site to undertake bridge and drainage surveys or for a site walkover prior to starting the design process.

What has been your favourite project up to now?

My favourite project has been carrying out foundation designs for a new Sustainable Aviation Test centre at Kirkwall Airport, Orkney. I got to visit the site prior to the design stage, carry out calculations, prepare technical drawings to show the foundation specifications and write the final Civils Design Input report.

What tips would you give to someone who is applying to Arcadis?

Arcadis is a brilliant place to work and they are keen to employ enthusiastic individuals who want to make a difference, especially when it comes to sustainability.
