  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Everyday varies as it depends what client you are working on and for which manager. Most of the time we are out at clients offices which is great as you work in different teams for different clients.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learnt how to communicate over the phone and in person with a range of different people, also working towards the CFAB qualification and then towards the ACA qualification.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it vary much, the teams I work with are great and it is really good that we work with lots of different managers and colleagues. Everyone is really friendly and sociable as well.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BDO?
  • The managers are always saying thank you for your help. There is also instant awards of £75 which we can get if the manager thinks you have done particularly well on a task or project.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very, we have internal training for 2 weeks when we first start. Collage dates and exam dates are always given well in advanced or can easily be obtained.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • At collage there is lots of support with your studies and for assignment projects they are happy to extend deadlines and give advise if there is any issues.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • They are flexible with study days around exam times and are managers or other employees are happy assist with any questions relating to assignments or exams.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For a school leaver the salary it is in line with competitors and is generous for a school leaver. BDO also pay TOIL which a lot of the other accountancy companies do not.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We have loads of social events for just trainees and also for the departments and whole office. There are also SCASS events which take place every couple of months.

  • 9. Would you recommend BDO to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a really good place to work as there is a good variety of work and the whole office is really sociable! There also lots of opportunities to work for lots of different types of clients and with different teams.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?
  • Make sure that you ask questions to the interviewer and if anyone shows you around the office ask them questions even if you know everything about the program, ask about the social side.
