  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role is writing site diaries and inspecting items relating to the project such as the surface water management silt traps or the quality of subways. I have plenty of interactions with contractors too making sure they are sticking to health and safety.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt plenty about infrastructure and residential. I have learnt about surface water management, how roads are built, how utilities are installed and the process of preparing to build such as contract tendering. I have also learnt about welfare designs and developed my excel skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it a lot. My project team are really supportive. I get help when I'm stuck and I don't get in trouble if I mess something up. It is incredibly varied day to day.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is incredibly well organised and Structured. there is a dedicated team throughout the business from group all the way down to divisions. There is a mentor programme which slots you with someone who has done the same programme as you. However, communications can be a bit slow and can sometimes leave you in the dark about certain things but it always get sorted.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get a lot of support from the entire project team from the directors and down the chain to managers. There is also a lot of support from the future talent team here at Berkeley.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • T3 do the best they can with being a online provider. there information is clear during their inductions. The tutor can be hard to reach sometimes but we can always ask during the lectures.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It is a varied qualification. It covers multiple areas such as commercial and technical as well as the construction area. It will give me a better understanding of how other departments work for when I am in a more specialised role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is plenty of activities through work such as volunteering for charity partners through the Berkeley foundation. The apprenticeship and graduate programme has plenty of socials as well. There is also sports played as fundraisers and can be golf to rugby.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Berkeley Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The business really looks after its apprentices and graduates. They do go out of their way if you have an issue. The business as a whole is a massive advocate for these types of programmes and everyone is so supportive.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Berkeley Group?
  • Be a sponge! You can't learn anything if you don't ask. I have learnt so much just through asking questions and making the project manager question his own trade. If you have an issue, speak up about it too otherwise the business can't help you.
