  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role as a quantity surveyor is to manage and assess costs of my packages, materials, and contracts for building projects. look for financial efficiency, accurate estimates, and adherence to budgets by documenting payments finding costs alternatives and paying out money accordingly

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've now got cost estimation, contract negotiation, financial analysis, risk assessment, communication, and a tiny knowledge of construction materials and techniques the use of excel and IFS (software's) and importance of budgeting

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • its almost perfect I enjoy it quiet a lot not exactly what I expected it in fact surprised me but then I enjoy my role enjoyable good team and I'm learning quickly

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the program is well structed and allows for a lot of time however personally I think its a bit longer than needed but I guess for the business its to see how competent we are but id like to move on to the level 6/7 masters and possibly rics/mrics

  • a good amount we have a good support system a people team and literally people that are a phone call away

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • its very early doors but we had a little transition period as e changed tutor which caused disruption they aren't the most proactive but do enough to help as well just wish they'd respond quicker and have a one message system however I understand people have different teaching methods

  • its very relevant as they expand your knowledge not just in your role but construction as a whole

  • yes a variety of employee activities

  • 9a. Would you recommend Berkeley Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • enrolment was CV less which means they enrolled based on competence and ability more than what a piece of paper says and although I did ok in school the fact that my role has suited me well suggest they are doing something right they look after there employees and progression is also a big factor for me you can see the pathway and they provide the necessary experience as an individual I like being thrown into the deep end and letting me get on with it and they do that here and support you all the way through keeping your head above water


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Berkeley Group?
  • clue yourself up but also be yourself its natural and you shine through its not about what piece of paper says its more about you and your normal self is your best self be inquisitive and listen there's a lot of roles in construction and Berkeley will have something for you
